Gauges
Anybody know any quick fixes for stuck or miscalibrated gauges on the dash? My tachometer shows that the cars is at 2000rpms before the car is even turned on! not a big problem but would be nice to get fixed.
thanks shawn |

Re: Gauges
so long as it is accurate when the car is running, that is all i would worry about. as far as being wrong while the engine is running, have you put gears in it? or non stock size tires?? if you do, you have to alter the drive and driven gears on the speedometer sensor. otherwise the tach wont read correctly.

Not to argue, just confused. Doesent the tach work from a signal from the ingnition system? Because RPM has nothing to do with vehicle speed. Or am I just sounding like a retard?

Re: Gauges
i checked the gauge and it seems that it isnt stuck but rather the car sits of at 80 psi and when turned on goes all the way as far as the gauge goes(past the numbers), not sure how this happened or if this is accurate, just last week i had 0 oil pressure now its reading i have way to much.....a switch was replaced..... what the hell is going on?

Re: Gauges
thats a good question, could be electical, as in a BCM problem, or could be a clog in the oiling system, that caused extream high pressure, somehow damaged the old sensor, now the new one is showing the high pressure. no way to tel lwithout working on it.

My exp with my 91 rs led me to discover that my fact tach wast reading correctly because of a diode that is inside the gauge pack. Good tech article on one of the third gen sites. Can't remember which one, sorry.Maybe www.thirdgen.org
The oil gauge, I don't have a clue. You replaced a switch? Which one? Did you have to pull the gauge pack out for some reason? If not, a simple maybe fix is to pull it out and clean the plug connections. The plug looks vaugly like a paralle printer plug. Good luck!
