Justin, there's a few Gazelle and Silvia models still available. Most of the old ones are the S110 (3rd generation)...the only S10 (2nd generation) I've seen is in 1/28 scale. I'd love to find a 1/24 version of the S10.

One I want to do is the Aoshima Gazelle Silhouette which looks awesome. I already have the Silvia Silhouette which looks like it will build into an amazing model even if it is kerbside. Fujimi make a coupe Silvia RS but the kit with the most potential I think is the Aoshima Gazelle Open Kogure Version . I think you could build something pretty cool from this one In fact how about using the interior and dash from this in the Silhouette body to make a street version?

Wow! Thats awesome! I love the rims, though I would personally do the centres a solid color rather than chrome, but thats just me, it looks fantastic. An awesome job.
Also, I've seen a couple 1:1's of them up close, the build quality involved is nothing short of craftsmanship, awesome thing.

I was torn between leaving the spokes chrome or painting them myself. In the end i didn't because I was worried that the huge expanse of chrome rim might look odd without. Also I did a little research and found that these rims generally have bare spokes but the recess down the sides of the spokes and around the lug nuts is painted so I followed that. On mine that area is dark mettalic grey but it's so small it's difficult to see in the pics. Here's a 1:1 rim...



The 411 is a real struggle It's made by Master and is a reproduction of a 1960's motorised kit. You can just imagine the quality and detail..or lack of it I decided to build it as a Japanese police car. So far I've sourced the police parts and decals and a nice set of plain steel rims for it. The windows are a real problem. They are made from thin vacuum formed plastic and whatever mold they used as a former was rough as hell so you can barely see through them Mind you with the standard of interior detail it has that might not be a bad thing! Once i get the paint on it I might post a thread. I am kind of reluctant to do progress threads on most of my odels as I build stuff so incredibly slowly

Me 2. Only one I've kept pace with is the R31 drifter. BTW, how's the auster, seen paint yet?

Eddie, those 1:1's? Are they missing something, like lug nuts? Are they four lug? Would they fit my Corolla? I figure with the silver lip, that deep looking dish and some black spokes, they would look at home under there.

No, the auster won't get paint until the chassis is complete. I will have to trial fit the body on the chassis many times yet so it's to risky painting it yet as it might get damaged. Works on hold for a week with that while i build a model of a GC110 Skyline to give my dad for christmas (he owns a 1:1 GC110). I'll get some time to do more on it before the new year though.

Not sure what you mean about the 1:1' rims. That picture came off of a Japanese auction site. I would think your Corolla will have a 114.3mm (4.5 inch) PCD...in which case there are loads of rims that will fit it. All older Toyota, Nissan, Datsun, Mitsubishi, and many other 4 lug Japanese cars have that pattern with the exception of Honda and most Mazda. There are even a few US cars with that four lug fitment. I think some 80's Mustangs have it. There is a website with a huge list of rims to fit Datsun 510's (most of which would also work on your car) Some are aftermarket, some OEM. Take a look it might be useful. You occasionally see Panasports on ebay to fit Datsun 510's or Z's...a coat of dark grey mettalic paint and you'll have that RS Watanabe look on your Corolla!

i've been reading on your threads and am really impress by your work and fine detailing. great job. love the old skool silvia. i think it will look a little better with the inner headlights a ion yellow color like the old datsun 510. just putting in my opinion but nice job.

I checked out the Fujimi Datsun Fairlady Roadster chassis and amazingly it would fit the Silvia body shell with very little work! Damn now it looks like I'll have to build another one some time



The Fujimi kit is pretty detailed and although it would technically have the wrong engine (it's 2.0L and should be 1.6L) it would make a really nice model. I will do it some time but it'll be built as a race car as the only Silvia kit I have left has a damaged front bumper which I can't use. I think it'll be something like this...
