Silvia or a 180SX. Why do people say they have a Silvia SE or a 180SX LE, or a 240SX Type X(thats the Best). Even an RPS13 designation for a 240 is incorrect. its RHS13 or RMS13

The sad fact is unless your car is an actual RHD Silvia purcahsed in Japan, (ditto for 180SX) its NOT JDM, NEVER Will Be JDM and will never be a Silvia or 180SX. Its not just the badges, but there are many structural changes and differences in the cars that make them different.

for one thing the engine doesn't pass emissions and was never certified.

Whatever dude, I like the name Silvia much more that the mundane "240sx SE"

I went to the Nissan dealership one time and the manager there tried arguing with me that there is no such thing as a Silvia... and didn't know the car was a 240...

As of right now, all my cars have alphanumeric designations... The Silva name tends to break that monotony a little bit.

My car may not be JDM (japanese DOMESTIC market) but I'll race any SR20 JDM wanna-be 240 any time.

I don't care what the hell you call your car as long as you know a little about it, it looks decent and it's relatively fast with good handling.

For all I car you can call your 240sx an escort or an escudo as long as you don't slap those badges on it I couldn't care less...

i think the reason people call the cars "180sx and silvias" is b\c it is easier for others to reconize what they are talkin about..

it doesnt bother me that much.. as long as i know what they are talkin about and i can help im happy..

how would it be more easier for people us, usually americans, to call it 180sx instead of 240sx. You buy it its called a 240sx, the VIn is called a 240sx, the Tailights say 240sx....

I do know what he means, to keep it from becomming a stupid trend or catching on, you need to stop it before it becomes accepted. The only solution to a threat is to eliminate it... I call ricers a threat... why?

the 240sx is not produced anymore. The 240sx is in limited numbers and values increasing everyday it seems, people tend to drift these cars more and wreck them so thats a few less on the roads.... Then you have people who just want a show car for shows, and even drop in a JDM motor for looks...another waiste of a good engine for someone who would want to expoloit it. And the 240sx was never produced in numbers like a civic or prelude. It is a dieing breed and becomming a collectors car almost... S13 prices have doubled in the past year or so....

with all these stupid people wanting the car that leaves less for us, or even none because there might be a day when only 1,000 are around in 3 o 5 years even, how many of us would still drive a 240 then given fuel does not change. I would drive one 10 years from now and wouldn't care. The whole thing is not to hurt the 240sx community with bitching, its to help it. It helps people who have the car and use it. If you just want a show car or a cruiser get a F'N caddillac.

i personally don't care. let them call it what they want if it's built up, the only thing that bugs me a bit is if they call their stock car a Silvia or 180SX when it has nothing done to it and still says 240SX on it yadda yadda. i'll probably get 180SX lights/light panel for my future car, but i won't care. i'll call it what i want.
