Fixed '91 EX with 'S' light on

My '91 EX 'S' light would come on and the tranmission would get stuck in 2nd gear, on not downshift, or not go in reverse from park. I could reset it by disconnecting the positive battery cable, but it would come back in a couple of days.
My mechanic diagnosed a bad TCM or TCU. A used or remanufactured unit costs about $280, but I found one on eBay for $15. You don't need the exact part number. My original was 28100-PX0-833, but I replaced it with a 28100-PX4-921.

Thanks Again!!!!...My Honda is no longer SICK.:sun:

Could you send me the link also. I'd really appreciate it.

Links for replacing the speed pulser & sensor

I read through the posts on this thread and thought that it might be helpful to some if I posted a link that has more information on replacing the speed pulser and or sensor. I replaced the speed pulser in my 90 Accord EX auto which sits on top of the speed sensor and this corrected the Flashing S light, malfunctioning speedo and tach. Anyway, here's the link below.

Re: Flashing "S" on '91 Honda Accord?

"S" Engine light..etc...First the "S" light, then the engine light, then your head goes beserk???I had my Speed sensor replaced, it solved the problem! ABS, real weird....It stayed on, somewhow reading all these forums, I came accross "Clean" well, I sprayed under the brake assembly all 4 wheels, seems like some dirt was caught...Now, I start the car, the ABS is off, I drive 100 yards, the light comes back????Real weird!!!! Next step is to try and spray the dirt off again, then will eventually get a wheel sensor????

Check your fluid level in your brake reservoir and make sure it's up to the max line and see if that helps.

Re: Flashing "S" on '91 Honda Accord?

sickhonda. Please send me the link. My 91 Honda Accrod DX has similar problem. But only "S" comes on or goes off occasionally. When it comes on, I can feel the car "shift forward", like to be pushed forward. My email is [email protected]. Thanks. -NJ
