Re: ? bout headlight bulbs
The wattage is the actual rating of the light based on its output. The 6000K to 8500K is the wave length of the light that comes out of the bulb based on the temperature that the filament burns, that is why they are blue in color. Personally, I tried a set in my GTP but couldn't see anything. Purchased a set of bright star lamps and have been very happy with them.

Re: Re: ? bout headlight bulbs
yah i replaced my factory light bulbs with an aftermarket suppler. There 8500K 65Watts. They look awsome. Bright with a nice blue tinge to them. But when driving at night, very hard to see. I would go with the other guys opinion and get bright star lamps...something that will look bright and clean. Where to draw the line is up to you. Looks good or driving into a deer, lol.

Re: ? bout headlight bulbs
not that the police would actually check, but 100 watt bulbs are illegal for street use, as they will blind oncoming drivers. If you want a nice bulb that will increase your night field of vision, go with Sylvania Silverstars. They are much better than stock bulbs, but they aren't blue either, so it depends on what you're looking for.

Re: ? bout headlight bulbs
the kelvin temperature that you are looking for might be more around 10,000K. 5800k is around the closest you can get to natural sunlight. The lower the number from 5800k the more yellow you get and the higher from 5800 you get the more blue and purple you get. The problem is that after a certain point you are getting into untraviolet light i want to say around 13,000k you lose alot of visability. I have a pair of 8500k and it is kind of hard to see far with them. If you have foglights you could put in lights closer to 5800k, like sylvania silverstars, and put the blue ones, probably 10,000k as your headlights. This way you can turn off the foglights when you want a blue look.

I was in a similiar situation as you when I has a bulb go bad. I had spent a lot on all 4 toucans and didn't really think they were that great. I decided to go cheap and bought some 8500k "euro dezigns" off ebay. If you search for 9007 and mess around, you will find them for about $12 a pair. I emailed some of the sellers and got a deal on the 9007's and 880's plus shipping. I think I gave $27 for all 4 bulbs and they actually look great. There is no yellow light in them. I am sure there are better bulbs out there, but in my opinion, not for the price.

I don't understand why someone would give up night-time visibility for pretty colors. It makes no sense at all. Just my

Re: ? bout headlight bulbs
The cheapo bulbs I was just talking about are brighter than the toucan eurolights, and in MY OPINION brighter than the Sylvania silverstars. But yeah, I agree, giving up visibility for "pretty" is stupid. i.e. headlight covers that people don't take off?!!? I used to have a friend that drove around with his brights on all the time because of those dumb things.
