Spark plugs on 2000 Intrigue
I need to change my spark plgs. I have put over 60K on it since I bought it & have never been able to find them. I know that the 2001 does not have any & I was wondering wether or not it is the same for my car. I also have problems w/ my eletrical & heating. Sometimes my turn signals don't work & I have to hit my flashers to get to work. I have read other problems on this site & am going to try to use those suggestions about the heater & electrical, however, I do need to know about the sparks. Thnx.

Yes your 2000 Intrigue does have spark plugs, and your 2001 does too. ALL internal combustion engines that run on gasoline have spark plugs. However, the 3.5L V6 engine does not have spark plug wires. Three spark plugs are hidden under each bank of 3 coils on each valve cover. The two banks of coils are both held on by 7 bolts. You need to remove the coils to get to the spark plugs.

Don't know how many total miles you have but I put 100,000 miles on my '99' before I changed plugs w/ no problems. Just like Ruley said they are under where valve covers would be on a reg. engine. Each plug is connected to a coil w/ a rubber boot that I had to twist off w/ needle nose pliers (gently). Not a hard job at all, just rember to use silicone grease on the boots and anti-sieze on the plug threads if you ever want to get them out again!

wow, thnx. So, that's why I haven't found the wires! Are they under that cover up top or are they under/back behind next to the fire wall?

The 3.5L engine uses a coil-on-plug ignition system so no spark plug wires are needed. There are no spark plug wires on this engine because of this.
