Power windows

What all will I need to install power windows in a car with manual windows? Motor, wire harness, switches, regulator...I don't know if anything else is needed. I want to change my car over to power windows/locks so I can add an alarm to it and get rid of the cranks.

Re: Power windows

That's not what I'm looking for. I want it to be stock. The metal piece that the window crank connects to sticks out through the door panel, and with that kit I will have no way to cover that. I found a kit on ebay (yeah i know ebay lol) that has all the stock parts to convert 4 manual to power windows. It has the switches, harnesses, motors and regulators for just over $100 shipped.

Re: Power windows

if you want to keep it stock, just try and find a cavy around the same year in the scrap yard with pwr windows. I found one for mine, but then realized i will still have a hole in the door panel where the crank used to be. so i decided not to do it.

I've already got the harness, regulator, switchs, and motors. I'm about go get the door panels, and power window switches with harness from the same guy for $75 shipped. All I'll need from there is aftermarket power locks (cheaper), and an alarm, and I'll have it all installed at the same time. It will look completely stock and all parts will be stock except for the power locks. The only junk yard I found around me that has a cavy with power windows/locks near me is one that won't let you pull your own parts, so they charge an arm and a leg for the parts.

Why didn't you just buy the door panels with the rest of the stuff to avoide the hole in the panel?

Cuz thatd be too easy. Hmm and is it possible to put power windows in and keep the lil stick thing? Thatd be cool to see it go round in circles while the windows are goin up.

Re: Power windows

Yeah it is. Spal makes power window kits that use your manual regulator to power the windows. I didn't want the hole or the metal part sticking out, that's why Im making it look stock.

Re: Power windows

Is there a way to change the rear regulators so that the rear windows roll all the way down?

Re: Power windows

See, I was always told that the 4 door windows didn't go all the way down b/c its a safety feature. But I've been looking at my brother cavalier, and I don't know if there's enough space in the door to fit the whole window, what with half the door being part of the wheel well.
