1999 s10, problem with it catching and cranking takes anywhere from 15 mins to an hour to get it to crank...battery and starter good and putting out proper voltage....Security light has come on, I think it may be in the security relay... any advice...And where is the security relay...can't locate it... Thanks

Re: problem with motor turning over and cranking
"takes anywhere from 15 mins to an hour to get it to crank". By "crank" do you mean the starter will not crank the engine, or it will crank but not start? Big difference.

Re: problem with motor turning over and cranking
Definitely sounds like a Passlock problem. Try the Passlock relearn procedure: Clear all VTD module and VCM DTC's. Key ON and momentarily engage starter, do not start the engine, turn key back to ON position for ten minutes, off five seconds, repeat three times. If it still doesn't work, the dealer will have to do a "forced relearn" with a Tech 2 scan tool.
