overhead console question

i know yellow is power , should it be a constant power or a switched power through the key?
also, how do you calabrate the direction? doesn't make any difference to push both buttons at the same time.

Re: overhead console question

At the display itself, yellow should be serial data. If you run that to power you're gonna fry the display.

Question overhead console

Can an overhead console be easily installed in an 05 Blazer that didn't have one installed at the factory. Are the wires already there?

Can easily be installed, but the harness is not already there.

Are you saying the diagram is wrong? What did you do for the orange wire?

Re: overhead console question

i don't have orng on mine.
i have yellow=power ,
grk grn=vss,
grn.blk=temp ,
blk/wht=ground.
gray, brown =dash and dim lights / not connected
so is the yellow to a constant power or a switch power
i have it to a switch power and thought that maybe why i can't get the compass to read correctly.
not a big deal the temp works but the direction is off.

Ok, pin 14 to constant, pin 7 to switched. Now by OFF that it's not coming on period or is it not showing the direction properly? If it's not showing the direction properly you need to calibrate it.

Re: overhead console question

Find a very large empty parking lot. With the temp/direction displayed, press and hold both buttons until the unit displays CAL. When it does drive in tight circles 3-5 times until the unit calibrates and returns to normal.
