LUCAS oil stabilizer

I have been running Mobil 1 5w30 fully syn since I bought my car, and have been using Lucas oil stabilizer in it only in the warmer months. I have always felt like it would make the oils viscosity too thick when it gets cold. What do you guys think? Now I'm concidering Royal Purple oil. Does anyone have knowledge about the best oil for our cars, weights and all? How about that racing oil Mobil came out with?

I hear nothing but bad things about adding Lucas oils. I would just stick with the Mobil 1 that you are using, and in the summer months bump it to 10w30.

Re: LUCAS oil stabilizer

i blew 2 engines thanks to lucas oil stabilizer. it's too think and you don't get much flow and it burnt up 2 motors of mine. why are you running it anyways? you shouldn't need to unless your engine is really worn out

Re: LUCAS oil stabilizer

I first started using it because it seem to quiet down my lifter tick. I'm sure you've seen the little demo at every parts store with the gears. As soon as I gave the bottom cog a few turns and seen how the product worked, I began running it in my car. So you really have had two motors go on the stuff? ouchhhh. Do you think it was impeding oil flow being too thick? How much Hp were you pushing?

Re: LUCAS oil stabilizer

well the reasons they blew is because the heads burned up because they weren't getting enough oil flow and they had new oil pumps on them. that shit's just so thick that it could keep the head lubricated enough. i was a stock motor so i wasn't pushing any performance numbers in hp. i don't know, i just won't ever deal with that shit ever again.

Re: LUCAS oil stabilizer

Thanks for the heads up guys. Does anyone like the Royal Purple oil? Or has anyone looked into the race oil that Mobil has?

I have heard good things about Royal Purple, but it's relatively expensive and is very fluid-like, so unless your motor is used to synthetic (which obviously yours is), it could make your motor more prone to leaks. Haven't heard anything about the Mobil race oil.

Re: LUCAS oil stabilizer

I think it might just be marketed up here in Canada. Next time I'm in the store I'll check the weight to let you guys know. I always see comercials from the states that shows Mobils 5000 mile, 10 000 mile ect. Yet it's definately not available up here. Test marketing perhaps?
