Plus tire technology hasnt caught up yet so they cant go any faster as it is. I mean they're doing 300mph 2 seconds into the run.. not many tires can withstand that kinda abuse. Although what you saw might of been one of the Jet powered Drag cars. When you've got 20,000lbs worth of thrust i think you might be able to do a 1/4 in 3. But im not sure haha i usually dont watch those.. not as exciting.

Yeah, they used to be 1.5 liter turbo engines... I remember that bimmer engine from the 80s that made 1100 hp...
