I suspect the quilting is removable and used to protect the interior and its occupants (maybe its fire retardant and heat resistant too).

Thank you guys for your support and interest. Before I didn´t know what the interior looked liked. Therefore I went with a black color. Looks like I will need to repaint the interior tub with a silverish-aluminium.
