Re: engine swap

Hey man, well, lets see if i can offer anything usefull, now, everything im laying down is from what ive heard over time on the forum, i may say some stuff you dont need, i may leave some stuff out you do need, cuz ive never done this myself, but i should be able to give you a general idea to work from. so take it all with a grain of salt.

Generally speaking, your best bet is to find a totalled doner car that came from the factory with a V8 and get all the parts you need off that. These would include, the Engine, Engine wiring harness, Fuel Lines, Exhaust components, Emissions equipment, radiator and hoses, engine mounts, air ducting depending on what engine you are installing, for a TBI you just need the one duct from the air cleaner assembly to the front support beam, for TPI youll need the whole assembly that goes down around the hood latch. youll need the proper ECM and PROM from the doner car, they are on the passenger side of the dash, held in by two screws, you should be able to get em out pretty easy. if you cant get a matched ECM from a doner car, at least get one that matches the engine you have. possibly a new transmission, if you have a manual, its the T5, and it wont survive behind a 350. maybe a mild 305. but if your going through all this trouble, i strongly suggest you put a 350 in it. of course youll also need all the sensors, and associated wiring for the small block. and all the little detail parts that i just cant think of right now. that should give you a general idea.

Re: engine swap

i have the k-member that you will need if your car is a 4th gen. If you have access to affordable parts and have the tools to do the swap, I would do it.
Example:
If I had a V6 car that was paid for and could get an LT1 with tranny for $800, I would do the swap!

The most important things you will need are the k-member, engine, tranny, harness and PCM, rear, driveshaft, and springs/shocks. there are a few other things you will need, but I am not going to search and find them. You can probably pick almost all this up for under $2k if you shop around.

Blond hair? WAY TOO SKINNY? Nice girl, but everytime I see her I want to force feed her! She got some crazy genetics to be that thin.

Re: engine swap

Putting an LS6 would be the same as an LS1, but a little quicker....It has been done though to answer your question.
