Re: 4g63t swap with 420a into 95 rs
the difficult part would be buying parts for the swap. The 2nd difficult part would be buying aftermarket parts like exhuast system or something what do you buy for turbo or non turbo how do you know what fits because the car will be like a big combo?

Re: 4g63t swap with 420a into 95 rs
I think you should sell your car. If it has as much money into "other things" as you claim, it should be a very appealing buy for someone wanting a custom car with stereo, interior, or whatever else you have on your car. I guess it's really up to you whether you want to tell them about the oil leak; personally, I wouldn't feel right about not informing them, but it is your own conscience that must decide that.
Also remember that you can be sued in court if you failed to disclose a major problem with your car that your mechanic informed you about. But, chances are that you'll be able to find someone mechanically inclined, and sell the car for only a thousand less than you would if it didn't have the oil leak (at worst). This way, you lose the thousand bucks in selling the car, but you save $6000 from putting the new engine in--ergo, a net gain of $5000. That amount alone is enough to buy a GS-T, and you can definitely find something nice for $7000, leaving you plenty to spend on mods! That seems to be the way to go in my opinion. I wouldn't let your interior or what you have into the car cosmetically stop you from selling it, because at the end of the day a car is transportation, and if you can sit in your blitzed, candy red pearl showcar without the engine in running condition, you are going nowhere Sell it!

Re: 4g63t swap with 420a into 95 rs
you're a smart man joe, but i did leave out one detail. On my car right now i also have to spend some money on fixing my trans, 3rd gear has a broken tooth.

Re: 4g63t swap with 420a into 95 rs
you know what the great part is, all the stuff i bought for the exterior isn't even put on yet, and of course rims and stuff like that can always be taken off. i just wonder how much i can get for a 95 rs with close to 51 thousand miles on it, a 3rd gear tooth missing, oil burning, and a dent in the side; probably not enough.

Re: 4g63t swap with 420a into 95 rs
Nick, with 5 grand you can buy a high mileage gs-t (and by high mileage I mean 100k or so, maybe a little lower). I just picked up my 96 Talon Tsi Awd with 78k, one owner for $6700. It seems to be in good shape so far mechanically, no problems yet, and cosmetically it is awesome.
If you are looking for an AWD DSM, expect to pay a little more (obviously). But I would say that with only $5k you could get a FWD DSM. If you get $2000 for your car (which is conservative, considering it only had 51k miles), you should be in great shape! Best of luck with everything, and I think you made a good decision to sell it .
