Blue F1 with kit in Monaco

this just turned up @ SC.net. Thought I'd share. The guy who posted it would just like some background info on the car.

GTR or Longtail, I don't know, I just post pictures for you guys

FYI: I'm guessin Monaco as ll the posters in the background are Monaco. Looks like its in a private collection / dealership too.

It's actually a fairly old photo. I've had it in my collection since Feb. 2002.

The car is one of the '97 longtail GTRs - GTR #21R. It began its racing career as one of the Schnitzer/FINA Team BMW Motorsport longtail GTRs and then was later campaigned in a single race of the 1998 Privilege Insurance British GT series by Team Carl Racing wearing this livery. It was piloted by Gregor Fisken and Peter Hardman and competed in Round #5 at Silverstone finishing 8th place.

I've actually been told that this car may be in a private collection here in the USA now - possibly in Washington state, but I have not been able to secure confirmation on that or find out the name of the owner. Someone with considerable knowledge of Maseratis may be able to determine the owner based on the red car in the photo. I don't believe the car resides in Monaco at all though.

Here are some additional photos of this car that I included in the thread over on SC.net. I believe all three were posted here before, but I suspect they will still be new for a few people.

Re: Blue F1 with kit in Monaco

Wowee!!! Look what I just uncovered:

Gut feeling is that these are very old pics taken when 21R was being delivered to Gregor Fisken's place. Pretty cool find I think since this livery is long gone and pics are so scarce.

DAMN it looks good like this!

Enjoy!

Re: Blue F1 with kit in Monaco

When I found them that was the first picture I saw - and it was only a thumbnail. I muttered "No, it can't be..." thinking it must be a shot from Gran Turismo or similar. Then the page opened and I was like "WOW!"

The really shocking part is that I found these four images on a Japanese blog site. There were a bunch of other shots of cars that have cycled through Fisken's inventory from the same guy, but these were the only four of the F1.

EDIT: One last point - these were just uploaded to the web in August 2010 which warms my heart because it means people are still digging through their archives to share old content.
