Battery Relocation

What is needed to do this the right way? I want to move it to the trunk. I have seen some just mount the battery in open in the trunk, and others use a sealed container? What gauge wite should i haul back to the front as well?

Are you talking about the WestCo battery?

If so, I have a box that is perfect for it. I've mounted mine in the trunk of my SE-R. I tried to offer it to a couple of the SR20 related companies that have sprung up, but no one bit. So, after the DET is in, I think I'm going to make a run of them.

I'm running 1 AWG wire IIRC. I think 2AWG will suffice, but I'd rather have a little head space. Some people run 4 AWG, but that is rather small IMHO.

The box I have is drilled and countersunk for gromets that provide a seal where the wires go through. I'm also going to vent it. The sealed box with vent is not required with this battery, but try telling that to Bubba at the track who is failing you in tech.

Be sure to mount the battery on the passenger side. It's done to help offset the weight of the driver. The other location that is good is just behind the rear seat in the center of the car as this is closest to the polar moment of inertia. This will help with making the car more directionally responsive. Mounting it far back will make it less directionally responsive, but tend to rotate better.
