Re: automatic integra

if you want your car to go fast, you'll need to trade in your teg and get a teg that's a manual (preferably a gsr), and supercharge it (if it's a gsr). if you want to keep the car you have then the best option is to add intake/header/and exhaust (the basics). that's about it

Re: automatic integra

Now I don't own an Integra, but I still wanted to ask. What if Integra had an semi automatic tranny? (hypotheical question)

Re: automatic integra

It would mean someone spent a lot of money on an integra. Full manual will still be quicker

Hey i got a 2000 Integra GS automatic too. Im planning on doing the basics i/h/e. You cal always turbo but its a real waste of money cuz you dont get anywhere near the hp you get from a manual. It's all up to you I'm 4-0 in my integra so far its not too bad but i agree driving a stick is a lot better. It's worked for me and its not as bad as people said.

Re: automatic integra

Dump it and go for a manual.

Cole - Even w/ the "semiautomatic" you will not get the control of a manual unless you got something like the BMW SMG system which is a clutchless manual. Semi autos and tiptroics are just automatics that let you suggest when to shift you are still not really in control.

you can get a shift kit or for about 300-500$ you can swap it out to a 5 speed trany. dont let people tell you there nothing to do with a auto

$3500? damn, thats for the rich and the desperate. $3500 seems like a lot to dump on something so unnecessary. Stick swap would be cheaper and faster, and stock auto tranny would be free so you could spend that $3500 on something else.

no it does not. I can(and and competent driver should be able to) shift much faster than an automatic. at leats accord/integra/civic/mustang/legacy autos. those are the autos ive driven and I can shift WAY faster than those. only auto ive driven where I dont thinik id be quicker shifting with was my friends MX-6 that must have had a shift kit, it slammed into the next gear so hard and quick, going from first to 2nd it would break the tires loose most of the time.

not only shifting speed matters though, autos are almost always spaced much wider apart and 4 cylinders dont have much torque to deal with tall gears well.

so i'm curious, is the only to "modify" an automatic is just through intake, header & exhaust? is there nothing else that can be done (maybe reprogramming shift points after heavy modifications)?

it's just, i owned a '95 gs-r manual, however i had to sell it because i'm incredibly short & i couldn't get the clutch all the way in (w/heels) since the clutch is actually farther than the brake. so i traded it for a '01 gs auto (only availble teg). however it doesn't have the vtech, or half the luxeries of a gs-r.

Re: automatic integra

I may be wrong I have only driven 1 auto to manual swap and it is the worst manual ever. you cannot tell what gear your in and can find natural in every gear but maybe the guy just did a bad job.

I dont know what you are talking about, my civic is a auto to manual swap that i did myself and it is just like driving a stick, the way you find gears is the feel. it must be the linkage or something in the tranny is messed up, because left/up is first. and from there you dont even have to think about it.

Re: automatic integra

Level 10 auto has an automatic package. It has a auto gear seletor. It's like a clutchless manuel. and it ayso comes with a performance rebuild kit, so it shifts faster and the 1st three gears are closer to gether, and It ayso comes with a reprogramed ECU for automatic shift points....
