Re: Any Ideas

The variable assist ps VAPS is electronic controled by the gem module.
I would check all fuse and power feeds and charging system.
The loose of raido and PS at same time points to a 12 volt power feed problem.
Also check for any stored codes in body/gem/eng computers.
Will it do the same thing if you let it warm up before driving?

Re: Any Ideas

Look over the power feeds and charging system and also the belts on it.
If you do not find anything it might a good job for the dealer to check out.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Any Ideas

Check the transmission range sensor on top of the transaxle. It is the piece that has a wiring connector of about 10 wires in it. It bolts to the transaxle under the linkage. It can be seen by looking just to the inside of the brake master cylinder. Part is under 50$. What makes me think the TR sensor is the radio and power steering going out at the same time. Good luck. We have run into about 50 of these in our fleet.

Two questions?

Did they give you the error code and are you using a third party stereo?

Re: Any Ideas

I've *never* known an after market stereo to throw any sort of trouble code in my 9 years of installations. Though...there's always a first time for everything. :P

Re: Any Ideas

It wasn't the Stereo it was a wire coming loose from the poorly crimped harness.

Re: Any Ideas

I guess I should have specified a "properly installed" stereo.
