Mistakes in Revell itr kit???

IN the revell itr kit instructions, it says the block has to be black, but look under the hood of any type r and you'll see that the block is flat alluminum, and the instructions also say, in step 7f the the reverse light has to be red and the rest white, when it's the other way around, the whole tail-light has to be red exept for the reverse light, most of you know this, but this could be bad for newbies building this kit, because they will paint the parts wrong...

What can you expect, it's a Revell. Some Monogram kits I have don't have any painting instructions for at least half the parts...

Revell seems to have trouble doing accurate painting callouts in their instructions. It's a sore spot for me when I realize that for them to have researched a car well enough to make a full kit of it that someone can't take a couple hours out of their day when doing the final proofreading on the instruction manual to do proper color references and callouts. They must have detail pictures somewhere there to have made the parts...why must they drop the ball when it comes to a few simple callouts in their instructions?

I like Revell too, to some extent. Or actually I like Monogram - I have their Buick GNX and Corvette ZR-1 kits and they are magnificent, IMO.

Who the hell reads instructions? I may glance at them if I come across something unusual in the kit but I don't need an instruction sheet to tell me what color the taillights are!

People who want suspension and engine room to look like it is IRL read instructions, if they don't have time/chance to find reference pictures (which may not exist).

I'm inclined to agree with Murco. I look over them but not very closely anymore.
