Question is v-tec worth it?

hey i have been saving up my money for a couple of months now. and now i have a few hundred to blow on my car and i am looking for the most consistent horsepower for about four hundred dollars. i see on Thepartstrader.com d16y8 heads from anywhere between 150-800 dollars and so far that seems to be the best way to add horsepower to my crappy y7. so how hard is it to install the vtec head and is there any better alternatives to add major hp gains to my car(besides NOS)?

Nothing is going to w/o some sorta crazy deal other than nitrous, and that is like $400 and a bad mod for almost anyone unless they have a lot else done and run on the track.

you can prolly bring in 5-10hp with a cold air intake but that is gonna eat. Exhaust other than just a muffler is gonna be somewhat expensive., headers is also an option, that can free up maybe 3-6hp...

if you can find deals on stuff and do all the work yourself you can probably get I/H/E for under your $800

20 HP might make a little bit of a difference... but it won't make a HUGE enough difference to justify blowing your money on it. Even though i havent done a swap (stealing your guys's thunder), i'd say save up for a swap or a turbo or something. Plus if you don't have VTEC you will have to wire for it :-)

great advice... but i say don't save for just a swap or turbo.. you want to save for a swap and turbo. maybe a boosted h22?
