transmission fluid leak help??

I have a bad lead coming from the rear of the transmission where it bolts to the transfer case.
I thought it was a transfer case leak but after draining the t case the fluid looked different. Then I thought there was a bad gasket between the transmission and transfer case but it seems there is no gasket there??(not sure?)
So. I guess the leak is internal?? Is there a rear seal that can be replaced if I remove the transfer case? I took pictures but not sure how to post them. any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Nick

Re: transmission fluid leak help??

Thanks for the reply. I finally got a chance to get in there after digging out 2 feet of snow. Yea the seal looked bad and was hard like u said so looks like that was it. another question if anyone sees this...

before I put everything back together I am trying to adjust the bands. I can get the one that is in the pan no problem. I had a hard time getting at the reverse band. Is it important to do both at the same time or would it be better to just do the one and leave the reverse band alone. I dont work on transmissions and dont want to mess anything up.
thanks

Re: transmission fluid leak help??

The one in the pan is the reverse band. the one in the front of the trans is 2nd. Don't get then too tight or you will give your self more problems. You should be able to move the apply strut about 1/4 on both.
