revell honda civic Si [k-series][bys][MUGEN][ASR][BEAKS*]

hey everyone-----here i have a revell honda civic si kit. I built it a few years ago. But i got inspired to do a honda build so i took it out of storage and started tearing it apart to get a new image. I have been working on it for less than a month now, but i havent had a chance to post this up on "W.I.P" . ITS almost done.


here is a break down of the mods i made to the car before :

-exterior-
*revell integra front lip
*revell carbon fiber hood (decal)

-interior-
*cut out rear seats
*put racing seats in front (revell toyota supra or eclipse)
*steering wheel from jdm honda integra kit

-suspension-
*made skunk2 lower control arms
*used stut bars for engine compartment and rear trunk bar

-engine-
*ITB's from datsun 510 model

current mods are as listed, i have reference pictures for most parts ill post those at the end.....

-exterior-
*front bumper will be a "BACKYARD SPECIAL" FRONT BUMPER
*also adding ARC Magic splitters to the bottom of the bys bumper
*license plate relocator on front bumper
*APR mirrors (small racing mirrors)
*mugen rear valences (rear bumper 2 piece lip)
*mugen ferio wing
*rear fog light
*rear window visor

-interior-
*carpet added thanks to fuzzi fur (kens custom)
*type r door panel inserts
*k-pro ecu on the floor with harness
*vtec controller in center console
*passwordjdm rear trunk x-bar
*different racing seats

-suspension-
*asr subframe
*beaks tie bar

-engine-
*k-series
*oil catch can w/2 filters
*vented valve cover w/ stainless steel hoses directed to oil catch can
*spark plug cover added
*I.P.S intake manifold w/ fuel rail and fuel regulater (fuel lines as well)
*hytech headers
*hasport mounts
*trans cooler w/ lines
*passwordjdm triangular strut bar ( idea from WILLIMO )

-WHEELS-
*pegasus racing wheels....

-- here i have in the works the front bys bumper-ecu-beaks bar-asr plate-passwordjdm triangular strut bar........i used the square tube styrene for the beaks bar.......the rectangle tube styrene for the passwordjdm strut bar...... and styrene sheet 0.30 to make the asr plate ,ecu, and on the front bumper...... i used tenax-7R plastic welder to make sure all parts are bonded.



--- here i have the arc magic splitters for the front bumper right where the pencil is pointing....styrene sheet, 4 pieces in total to make...



--- k-series engine with the I.P.S intake manifold -
*made from stock manifold from kit
*cut the tab where intake pipe would go and shaved it up
*got a carb from a V8 to mae the throttle body placing it under the manifold
*added fuel rail - made with the square tube styrene
---- you can also see where i added the spark plug cover made with the 0.30 styrene sheet...



-- hytech headers made with half b-series headers ,and half headers from old ford thunderbird turbo kit..



-- here i started working on the passwordjdm x-bar for the trunk-
*i used a strut bar from one of the kits
*then i used the rectangle styrene tube and started cutting and filing away



-- ASR plate and BEAKS bar put on



--- engine bay being worked on. where the intake box goes and the cruise control goes, i cut them and filled up that area with styrene sheets .Also shaved down some of the "radiator support" the kit had.
*oil catch can , more box, located where battery originally was,made with styrene sheet
*ecu on the floor finished
*passwordjdm triangular strut bar finished

-- test fitting the rear window visor used the REVELL HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK stock wing for this....did some shaving and sanding...



-- added the mugen rear valences (2 piece rear bumper lips)
*got these 2 pieces from a initial D subaru kit , cut,and shaved to size




-- k-series with some color...



-- interior stripped and carpet put in....used kens custom fuzzi fur, its a mix of black with grey fuzzi fur....used spray paint to make it stick ...




-- interior coming along...... you can see ecu painted with harness on the floor....vtec controller in center console..... jdm integra steering wheel...type r door panel inserts (painted flat red)



-- bottom of chassis
*left the same exhuast system, just made the missing piece between the headers and the rest of the piping
*changed the muffler tip, used a tip from the tamiya supra kit



-- shots of the engine bay
*passwordjdm strut bar painted
*all steel braided line added
*oil catch can finished, had scrap pieces that looked like tiny filters
*oil cap added from scrap piece
*trans cooler placed to be visible thru front bumper w/lines
*intake pipe placed to throttle body- heated up the end of the plastic ,then squashed it against a pair of pliers to give it that dome shape, then hollowed tip



-- here you can see the motor mounts better HASPORT motor mounts
*made from the sprue tree and styrene sheet 0.30
*fuel regulator on side of strut tower

-- added "HONDA" windshield banner , you can also see the new seats im using in the back (from INITIAL D SUBARU KIT)....also the APR mirrors are the tiny little mirrors by behind the seats...




-- MUGEN ferio wing complete
*used the center piece of the custom wing off the REVELL HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK
*styrene sheeted the sides
*used the brackets of the same custom wing cut them to size
*sanded and filed the wing to size
*rear window visor glued in place



-- rear fog light, came from an older car model kit,cut the piece i needed, now it needs detail



-- car is now primered up....



-- front bumper primered



-- found oem honda/acura paint in spray cans . DUPLI-COLOR PERFECT MATCH .. color is from acura integra type R - "NIGHTHAWK BLACK PEARL"



-- main color is black, but when light shines on the paint hard, you see a dark metallic blue color, its very nice in person



-- car painted and cleared, here is a FLASH pic so you can see the dark blue metallic when the light hits it hard.....



-- front bumper painted... carbon kevlar lip coming soon to complete the "backyard special" bumper



-- front bumper details....
*used the "H" emblem from the tamiya honda S2000 kit for the grille
*used the photo-etched scrap piece to make the license plate relocator bracket
*also used that scrap photo-etch to make the badge for the "backyard special" bumper goes on the center bottom part of bumper



-- rear details.......
*used the "H" emblem from the tamiya honda S2000 kit for the trunk
*photo-etched license plate frame
*also used that scrap photo-etch to make the badge for the MUGEN wing




....................... just waiting to get a chance to take a trip to the hobby shop for some carbon kevlar..

i want to carbon kevlar :
-the lower front lip of the bumper
-the air bag, passwordjdm air bag delete tray
-backside of the racing seats
-spark plug cover
-passwordjdm cooling plate (the radiator support area over grille)
-mirrors
-MAYBE HOOD idk yet.....
-make a radio block off plate and wrap that

once i add the kevlar thats needed , i can place the window back on, headlight,taillights, body to chassis, mirrors ,v-stack, radiator.....and it should be done 100%.....................................

^thanks....... i know the camera sucks, its a walmart digital lilttle camera.....just wanted to share this build.

Crappy camera or not its still great to see the progress on the car and the fact that you are describing the whole process. Can't wait to see this finished.

^yes thank you.....some people have great cameras but put no info, some things they make are great and others would like to know how they made that.....pictures are worth a million words, but worth more with written info.............

...yesterday went to the hobby shop and picked up SCALEMOTORSPORT COMBOSITE DECAL (CARBON KEVLAR)...FIRST TIME EVER USING THIS PRODUCT. Also recommended was SOLVASET setting solution to soften decals for better fittment.First time using that as well.Experience with this was fun, once you understand the concept its easy.

--- here is the carbon kevlar..... they had this and the more yellow color kevalr, since the BYS front bumper had the darker color, that is what i went for.







-- here is the hood..... did it with one piece,using the solvaset ,only 1 wrinkle in the middle front tip of hood.....after decal set and dried up, i sprayed it with TESTORS ONE COAT LAQUER ......this picture is without flash on camera

--- took the seats, painted them flat black, then fibered the backside of the seats.......used 3 pieces of the decal each seat.....



--- was bored and fibered out the rear deck.....2 pieces for the...




--- here i did 3 parts...
*passwordjdm carbon kevlar airbag delete
*carbon kevlar spark plug cover
*carbon kevlar radio block off...(only cut the piece then glued)



--- did the passwordjdm carbon kevlar cooling plate , that solvaset works super wheel, took shape of the radiator support just like the real piece...also painted the radiator bracket from PASSWORDJDM



--- BYS front bumper, i finally got the carbon kevlar on there, 1 simple stripe across......license plate is on, arc magic splitters are on....

i need to finish up the headlights to install them ,then the bumper, and it is done........working on that today, post pics maybe tomorrow to get some sun shots in.........

Maybe with the camera you could try in some better light with the flash off, just a thought

^yea, idk i tried in different rooms for lighting, even took out a big spot light i got, no flash, and still not getting better quality....... its just a small digital cam, so i wouldnt expect much from it....thanks for the thought thou...... i have to get one of those expensive cameras to get the details...

--- here is the mirror.... did the back plate of it with the carbon kevlar, as well as the backside of the mirror.....




--- here i finished the headlights.... i wrapped them in carbon kevlar, the only reason i made a vent hole on the driverside is because i cracked the lens.... so i went thru wth it......doesnt make sense since i have a velocity stack out the front bumper,but owell................
