K2500 gvw

I'm trying to find the GVW rating for my 97 K2500 ext cab long box, not finding a tag anywhere on truck does anyone know how to identify that number? I believe 7200 & 8600 were offered on this truck

No label there, that was the first place I looked. Maybe was painted over.

Re: K2500 gvw

My EC/SB K2500 is 7200# GVWR. It has the 6 bolt rims. If you have 8 bolt rims you have the ~8600# GVWR. Both diffs have 14 bolt covers, but the pods are different sizes.

IIRC one of the digits in your VIN also identifies your GVWR.

Thats what I think too. I heard once that the 3/4 HD had 1 ton axles and the eight bolt rims along with the 8600gvw

Re: K2500 gvw

With the Extended Cab longbed it is 8600. That is why it rides like a tank.
