Heads for 3.1
hi i have a 2000 chevrolet malibu..duh right im in this thread.. either way it has the 3100 engine in it. i wanted to know if a older 3.1 or 3.4 head will fit on it. the reason.. i can get 2 3.4l heads from a junk yard for 50 bucks or i can get the 3.1 head from a junk yard for the say gen engine for 150 any information would be great thanx for all your help

someone else will chime in surely, but I think that either will work, there is not a whole lot of difference in the engine for over a decade. The 3.5 and 3.9 lost the water through the intake all together after all the intake gasket problems, but before that should be ok.

One must be on guard to be sure you get the SAME heads. The casting number is the surest way. Rocker arm changes were made through the evolution of the engine and earlier stuff will NOT "fit".
