Overhead Console Mounted GPS? 2001 silverado

I am going to need a GPS system soon. I have a 2001 silverado ext cab that has the overhead console. Is there a way to mount a unit anywhere overhead? Can you reccomend a unit? I have a blank on the console for an apparent option, and I would like to use it for a mount.

I understand there may be no factory fit units, but has anybody mounted one up there? I dont want to have a $700 piece on my dashboard

Re: Overhead Console Mounted GPS? 2001 silverado

I own a 2001 Silverado with the same roof console. My wife owns a 1999 Tahoe with the same console except that hers has the rear AC and blower speed for the rear of the SUV where yours and my console Chevy inserted a 'blank' panal there. My son got me a Garmin 'NUVI' for X-Mas and I have mounted mine in the same spot your talking about and mine works perfect. Hope this helps.
