my 99 alero fuel pump is not getting power help please?

Hello
im new to the forum and i would like to know if anyone could help me.
ok i got a 99 alero for my first car. (not running) my igniton houseing was cracked no battery. replaced all that but now my engine is not getting fuel. checked the fuel pump conector no vlotage swapt relays still no power can anyone help?

Welcome to AF.

Did you check the fuel pump fuse (mini fuse 48) which is before the fuel pump relay? If the fuse is good then check for 12 volts at the fuse socket with ignition to ON which should come from the ignition control circuits. Note: Mini fuse 48 is used for the fuel pump and fuel injectors.

checked it this morning it getting voltage. dont understand why its not getting power to the fuel pump. but the battery was disconected so i think the auto theft is on. dont know what to do

If the security/theft has been tripped try leaving the key on for at least 11 mins.

On these models the fuel pump wires under the car back where they run on top of the tank can get damaged-cracked. Might check that too.

Also I'm pretty sure auto part stores sell this particualr section of the wire harness due to this defect.

ok so it turns out i was checking the fuel pump wrong never felt dumber.
so my pump is getting power so turning to the fact that the car has been sitting for about to years im pretty sure the pump has gone bad. gunna get another pump tomorrow so wish me luck

Get pump installed? Did it start?
