90 camaro rs stalling... help!!

my girlfriend has a 90 camaro rs v6 she just bought from my friend, he doesnt know whats wrong with it and neither do we, when you start it up its fine, then when you try and back out it stalls, when you start moving forward you have to go real slow or it bogs down, (you cant floor it! ), when you finally get up to speed and go to slow down to turn a corner and it stalls. her dad has a 86 camaro v6 and knows it like the back of his hand and even he cant figure this out. one night we had it running in the driveway and the exhaust started glowing bright orange. weve switched the plugs wires pumps you name it! please help us out here!!! thanx in advance!

Re: 90 camaro rs stalling... help!!

your catalytic converter has collapsed, you need a new one. the rest of your exhaust is fine. i am 100% sure on this.

Re: 90 camaro rs stalling... help!!

Did changing the exhaust help? I have a '90 Camaro that is giving me the same problems as well as backfiring a few times. I recently had new pipes installed but the mechanic that put it in used pipes that weren't designed for the Camaro and customized them to fit. In doing so he left out the catalytic converter. The car was running fine before this, now it is stalling.
