si head and zc cam

i was just about to start my mpfi swap. i also came across a 89 si head and picked up a sohc zc non vtec cam. i was just wondering if i would gain anything from this.
if so would it be from the head or just the cam or both. let me know if any of you have ever tryed this before on a d15 and what the out come might be in hp?

Re: si head and zc cam

it's my understanding that, aside from the camshaft and cam sprocket, the Si and DX head are the same ...

I could swear he is talking about a JDM cam, a Si head, and a DX engine ..... but thanks for correcting me ...

The D15 with a SOHC ZC cam and MPFI should make you in the neighborhood of 120hp if you have I/H/E... solely going by MistaBone's dyno results on his 5G D15 MPFI with I/H/E and CRX Si cam... and the ZC SOHC cam is better than the USDM Si cam....

i was talking about a jdm cam and a usdm si head.
is this true about the si and dx head being the same is so is there any differences between the si,dx, or std heads? or are all models the same and the differences are only in the block?

I know for a fact that the cam is different from the SI cam... I have a Dual CV Carb'd SOHC ZC in my 4G4D, and none of the Si's here can stay with me... You can really feel the cam come alive after 4K... almost feels like Vtec...

I have also read a post on another board about a guy who put a SOHC ZC cam in a D16A6 that was quite built (high comp pistons, P&P, etc...), and the Dyno Graph showed 143 HP at the crank...

i figured the cam was much better but what about these heads. i have searched and no one seems to know if there are any differnces in any of the heads except that the std and hf are 8 valves instead of 16.

Re: si head and zc cam

Yo Vesper, If I understand you right you are saying "you have a USMD SI head which is the head off a D16A6 and you want to add a ZC cam. You would like to know if the ZC head is diffrent than the D16A6 SI head? If this is your question then the answer is no. The whole D16A6 SI motor is the exact same as the JDM ZC. The JDM ZC has a more aggresive cam and tighter cam sprocket. If you are adding a JDM ZC SOHC Cam to a USDM SI D16A6 then you just built a USDM ZC Motor. My great friend works at a honda dealer and runs the same set up cause hes stingy with money and thought it was too much for a whole JDM or Canadain ZC. He pulls away from USDM SI in all body syles on I-85 all the time. You got a good idea and a great set up plan.....wanna sell it?
