steering wheel shake

a lot of times with the e39 model cars, the shake comes from warped brake rotors. if the shake is worse while braking, i would go after that. i work at a bmw shop, and that usually fixes the problem. if your car rattles over bumps at all, either, it is the most likley the backing plates for the front rotors. i think you can get clips at the dealer, as the ones that come with the car loosen up and/or break. 2 birds with one stone. hope this helps.

That sounds exactly like what I have going on. At high speeds when braking there is a slight steer wobble and going over bumps I get rattles. Was wondering what these were as i just got my car last week. Thanks, now I know exactly what to look for when I get it serviced.
