1/16 Mercedes 300sl

I started a minicraft Mercedes 300 sl today. It needed alot of body work. Lots of uneven model lines on fenders, flashing every where. I shaved some emblems off frenched in the headlights. I just finished painting the body. I took Model Master Acryl silver and mixed in some model master arcyl cobalt blue. Ill post more as i progress. Thanks for looking.

Re: 1/16 Mercedes 300sl

Nice work so far. I have this kit too, and what I like about it, compared to Italeri's 1/16 version, is that it has a full tube frame and chassis pans. Plus, the front fenders are a bit more accurate. Can't wait to see more progress!

I use Photobucket to host my pictures, it lets you resize them.

Re: 1/16 Mercedes 300sl

All the best with this one - I built it a few years ago and found the body needed a lot of adjustments to make the doors fit so I hope you have checked that before doing all your nice paintwork (!)

You will enjoy doing the chassis but wait till you try to fit the body - great fun!!

Good luck

some pics of frame and motor. Plug wires don't come in the kit.

Re: 1/16 Mercedes 300sl

So I just finished this car about an hour ago. I really hated this kit. It had a bunch of fit issues. I was going to detail it more ,but just got frustrated and just wanted it done.

Nice work with a tough kit. I have this one too, and I only plan on building the chassis and displaying it next to the italeri kits.
