ac compressor

hello everyone. just recently the compressor on my SE starting getting pretty loud. it makes that dreaded "scratchy?" sound when it engages. The compressor itself is still good, just wondering if there is anything out there to spray on it, or any tricks to quiet it down?

if I'm not mistaking, this is the clutch that is causing this noise. if theres no cheap way to fix it, I'm just going to do a compressor delete because i really dont want to pay for a new one.

Re: ac compressor

You could try adjusting the clutch gap on the compressor. I don't rmember how exactly to do it it has been so long, but I think autozone or oreilleys might have a kit that you use (like a power steering pump pulley kit) to pull the clutch off, and press it back on. Then if you have the spec you use a feeler guage to adjust the air gap.
