Replacing PCV Valve for 3.5L Intrigue?

Anyone know if this is difficult and how to to go about doing it? My car is at 100k miles and I thought it might be worth doing from what i've read.

I'm pretty handy, but most of my experience with car maintenance is pretty limited to the more common stuff like filters, maf sensor, battery, etc.

You could do it in your sleep then. Pull the plastic engine cover off (two plastic nuts on top), you'll see the PCV next to the right engine cover stud. Just pull it out of the engine, pull the hose off of it, and replace it with the new one. Done.

well that was amusing. Probably the easiest and cheapest maintenance i've ever done on this car.

The old AC delco seemed to be in decent shape as it still rattled around. I swapped it for a new Purolator for $3.

I attached a picture of where it is. Exactly as Tobey stated. Right next to that stud.

thanks tobey

When I changed mine out the elbow was old and cracked. Autozone didnt have one for the Intrigue, but I bought one for a Chrysler that did the trick.

was it pretty noticeably broken?

the elbow on mine seemed to be in decent shape as you can see from the picture above. I didn't really inspect it all too well though.

Re: Replacing PCV Valve for 3.5L Intrigue?

I've honestly NEVER seen a PCV valve that I would consider worn out. It usually just gets gunked up which causes it to stick and not work properly. Clean it out with some carb/brake/throttlebody cleaner and it's as good as new. I did this at every oil change when we had our Intrigue (3.5L) because the PCV valve was always gunked up with a murky oil/moisture blend (which is especially common with any engine in a car that performs alot of short trips). I believe it was a huge contributor to the excessive oil consumption we experienced. It easily went through 2 quarts between 4,000 mile interval changes. (but according to GM, 1 quart every 2000 miles is normal LOL). I'm confident in saying that anyone that removes the MAP sensor from the plenum on the 3.5L will notice an oily buildup on the nipple.

Yeah, the rubber will be hard and will crack. Makes sense to pick up spare connector and save a repeat visit.
