Talking 93 Ford Aerostar Brake & antilock lights.

My brake light and RBS light are always on. I changed the differential sensor and bleeded the brake system with new fluid, but no help. What would case both lights to stay on.

Re: 93 Ford Aerostar Brake & antilock lights.

I have a 95 with the same problem. Have had it for years. Every year it passes inspection and the mechanic said there were no problem codes. Just kind of a fluke though I'd like to get rid of it too. I think I tested the ABS last year by stomping on the brakes real hard and the ABS engaged so I just let it go.

A friend of mine who had a Mercury Villager Changed the Tie Rod ends and then the light went out for him. I am not sure on the Aerostar. But check into it. Ask a Ford Service Dept. They may know.

Probably the clockspring in the steering column.

Re: 93 Ford Aerostar Brake & antilock lights.

If you are having ABS lights going off, have someone check to make sure no wires are broken behind the wheels on the caliper. This is a problem with numorous makes and models, it's all the same. Doent cost to look and something you could do yourself.
Good luck and let me know if this was any help.

Re: 93 Ford Aerostar Brake & antilock lights.

The long as your van brakes correcly, why do you care?
Your ABS are not working, but it's not important at all. In my 2 cars, I disabled the ABS and I find that the cars are more controllable. It may be a bad ABS sensors...

For the brake light, it normally indicates low brake fluid level/pressure. The long as the level is good and the braking is normal, you shouldn't care of this annoying red light.

Pull the handbrake lever and release it to be sure that it's not the handbrake indicator.

Check alternator voltage. Low alternator voltage can cause the brake light to turn on.
Check also for bad electric contact in the ABS module.

A Windstar without having the check engine light is not a real Windstar.
