Exclamation 93 concorde just quit and now won't start

I was backing out of my driveway, in reverse, stopped and shifted into drive, and the car died out of nowhere....when I tried to restart it it took several revolutions and then sputtered a little and died again...I had a friend listen to see if he could hear the fuel pump pressurize the lines when I turn ignition on, but he heard nothing, nor did I. I just wondered if there is anything else that could have caused this, IE timing slipped or is there a fuel cut off switch in this model, it is fuel injected. HELP!!

Yeah sounds like a fuel issue. 3.5L or 3.3L engine?

Could be several things. Cam sensor / crank sensor signal activates the fuel pump to keep it running. Cam sensor signal is needed to start the car, but if it should fail while the engine is running, the car may just run poorly. However, the crank sensor is needed for the ignition, and the fuel pump to operate. Check the crank sensor.
