Re: Used odyssey

I have been looking for a used odyssey for a while now. A 2000 is an old model and the miles are high. I know dealers keep telling me that I will get 300,000 miles +. I guess it just depends on how many years you want to get out for van.

some things I would ask are, have the timing belts been changed? What about the serpentine belt ( http://www.serpentinebeltdiagram.com/ ) The miles do seem high.

Re: Used odyssey

I would trust a honda at least up to 200,000. Yes, there may be maintenance costs involved: see http://www.serpentinebelt.org

But you have to always consider the maintenance cost vs. the cost of a new car payment. Lets take a $400 car payment. Even if you have to pay $2000 for a maintenance task, if it last you 5 months, then you have spent the same amount of money as you would for 5 months of car payments, $2,000. Anything beyond that is a bonus for you.

Used is almost always the way to go.
