96 Windstar - no cold air from AC

I have a 96 windstar, 3.8 engine. The radiator fan stopped running so I replaced the fan dropping resistor, it fixed that problem but now the ac blows warm air. Have tried charging the system but no change. Could these problems be related?

Can you adjust the temperature?.....if not, the blend door may be defective....lots of posts here about that.
The blend door position determines how much of the air will pass over the hot heater core.
If it is stuck in the hot position, you will have hot A/C.

Is the A/C compressor cycling ON?.......if not....then that is the problem.
Several things can cause that.
Is the A/C system holding a charge?.......
Here in Wisconsin.....we cannot buy refrigerant.....only licensed shops with recovery systems can work on A/C legaly.
If the system does not hold a charge, then you will need to determine the source of the leak......there is a tool that has a probe that they can use to "sniff" for a coolant leak.
Otherwise, they put a dye into the A/C system....and the dye will show where the leak is.

Re: 96 Windstar - no cold air from AC

Back in April we took a trip up to Ohio from Florida and had lukewarm heat 'causing us to think blend door. Took another trip up there in Nov. and had hot heat, like normal, so we eliminated the blend door problem. We can buy refrigerant here in Florida and tried to charge the system, but it didn't want to take it, so I'm thinking it has enough in it. BUT, the compressor was not cycling on. Is there some kind of relay or fuse or module for the compressor?

The compressor relay is inside the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) which is located in front of the battery.....on the radiator support.
The CCRM contains the fuel pump relay, Radiator Fans relays, and the A/C compressor relay.
There are the pressure switches in the A/C system that also determine if or not the compressor will engage.
