'96 3100 Coolant Level Sensor Replacement

I need to replace the coolant level sensor on a '96 Grand Am with a 3100 engine.
The sensor is located on the side, near the bottom of the plastic coolant resovoir near the passenger side fender. There are no clips or other visable attachment points that I can see. It looks like it just shoves into a hole...
How do I get the old one out? Just yank on it with a pair of needle nose pliers?
Once I do get it out, if I don't ruin the tank, how do I install the new sensor, which I already have? Does it actually make contact with the coolant? If so, how do I seal the new sensor into the hole so it doesn't leak?
The dealer was no help...

they come out very easy, I remember I pulled out mine with two fingers only. So yes just pull it out and there should be an "O" ring that holds the sensor in place and prevents leaks.

Just clean it and put it back in.

Re: '96 3100 Coolant Level Sensor Replacement

I had to take the reservoir out to get the sensor out. It slid right out with minimal effort and I didn't break anything!
I found that the sensor does not touch the coolant, don't know how it works, it just goes into a sealed hollow area up inside the tank.
While it was out, I cleaned the tank with bleach and water and found there is a float in the tank alongside the sensor passage that freed up after cleaning.
I'm guessin' this is why the light wouldn't go off...
