Re: Tracker Dash Removal?

Look on the sides under various cover thingys, and under the hood. The console has to come out first. Not sure about 94, but 96 is modular, so once you locate the bolts it should just drop out - but you might have to remove every thing from the panel to get to all the bolts. Might be easier to tape it. If you get it out, I doubt you will ever get it back in. Plastic ages, becomes brittle, and just falls apart. I would not remove the dash to paint - because it may involve a lot of otherwise unnecessary electrical work. If you do remove the dash, know were you will get a replacement wiring harness, and how to put it in. Do yourself a favor and invest in a Haynes manuel - Suzuki Samurai/Sidekick/X-90/Vitara Geo (Chevrolet) tracker 1986 thru 2001. Careful with this little truck, with lift kit and big tires he can be extremely unstable - this combo is not for a teen driver. Also if 4X4 front hubs need frequent servicing. I have found these vehicles to be maintenance intensive.

Re: Tracker Dash Removal?

Actually, the dash board is not nearly as difficult as the last poster described. There are three or four bolt along the top against the windshield that are covered with plastic inserts to make the dash look uniform. Once those are removed, the whole thing will come out slick as snot. I own a 1992 Geo Tracker and have performed this taks myself. I will recommend thought that you get a manule. It will make your life ten times easier.
