96 Grand Prix SE with 3.1 v6
This car is my sister in laws and I try to keep it running for her. It has 213k on it now and the low oil level light comes on a lot when you start it and of course stays on the whole time you drive it. I imagine with the miles the sensor is bad in the pan which I am NOT fixing..but is there a way to disable this feature. It is no low on oil when this happens. It does use/leak oil but we check it often but this light drives her nuts. If I unplug the sensor would that disable it or make it stay on? Can I just short those wires together that go to the sensor and that would keep it off? Does anyone know? Does anyone have a clue what I'm rambling about...hahaha

Re: 96 Grand Prix SE with 3.1 v6
I know what you mean.
My issue is the sensor is cheap, and is easier to change than an oil filter on that motor. If it were me, I would buy one and swap it out on the next oil change. I think on the 3100 the sensor is directly on the bottom of the pan so the plug is susseptible to all sorts of dirt and road grime and corrosion over the years. You could climb under and have a look at the wiring.
