as a hobby,do yall collect anything?....

i do,i collect...

ceiling fans
christmas decorations

i used to collect hotwheel cars/trucks,but they are in the attic at my parent's house,i live on my own in my own home.

my ceiling fan pics(from my collection, however i got more fans than what you/yall see,i just don't want to flood my thread with too many pics so i just post a few like my favorite ones):

i got at least around 10+ ceiling fans in my whole complete collection(counting the ones in pics above),all my fans are over 20 years old(made back in 1970s/1980s era.

I maintain that virtually any manufactured product is collectible. Somewhere, there are collectors of stuff, no matter how obscure.

Personally I collect vintage wrist and pocket watches, vintage bicycles, vintage radios/stereos, upright grand pianos, and antique furniture.

My wife collects christmas ornaments and christmas memorabilia. We have enough stuff to decorate about 5 houses so far.

A friend of mine collects vintage light fixtures, which is not too far removed from ceiling fans.

Re: as a hobby,do yall collect anything?....

My sister had a GE clock radio identical to your second picture. when she was a kid in the mid-70's.

Generally I consider "vintage" radios to be the old vacuum tube style.

But I like to collect high-end stereo equipment from the 1960's and '70's. The good tuners, amplifiers, receivers etc were actually better than almost anything today. But you can often get them really cheap because many people don't understand that their 35 year old Sony, Rotel, Yamaha or Marantz receiver is better than whatever MP3 powered thing they just bought at Best Buy.

I was never much of a collector of things. Aside from a massive stockpiling of NYC transit memorabilia (destined and intended for eBay at some point in the future), most of my old stuff has been thrown out.

Regarding old equipment (though not as old as mentioned, and not tube style), I still use my old Kenwood Basic system from the 80's (with some new stuff hooked up to it). And those turntables are the original old style Technics SL1200 MKII purchased at "Uncle Steve's" on Canal Street in the early 80's. Still almost in mint condition. They are actually more expensive today than when I bought them for $500 each!

And I still think vinyl sounds better than MP3, but what do I know.

Like many people I collected sports cards when I was a kid. I then got into coin collecting. I collect pretty much all coins, but mainly pennies and colonials.
