What advantages do used car dealers have when they sell a car as owner?
Why would a used car dealer or anyone that sells multiple cars hide the fact that they have other cars for sale? Most of the ads of cars for sale are too good to be true and I stay away from them but what do they hide by showing they are for sale by owner?
I have used Craig's List to find a used car and some deals are too good to be true and I hate to see young folks buy these reconditioned cars that CARFAX can't list because of the laws in 29 of the 50 states not making it mandatory to list wrecked or totaled cars.

Re: What advantages do used car dealers have when they sell a car as owner?
Well. most dealers (new and especially used) employ sophisticated sales techniques to dupe the average consumer out of as much money as possible.
Part of this manipulation is to pretend to be the actual, private owner and user of the car, because most buyers are more apt to trust a private seller than a dealer. Given the dealer's commision structure and penchant for odo rollbacks, I don't blame buyers for the mistrust. It's tough for dealers to lie and pretend to be the private seller if they have multiple cars for sale. Also, in my province, Ontario, dealers posing as private sellers can dodge some sales taxes and business taxes. |

Hey guys. I have been on a long search for a car mainly searching craigslist. You find a lot of deals but when you call they have salvage title. Pisses me off lol
