obdII software downloads for pc's

Has anyone used or purchased any software to use on pc with the obdII cable you can buy off e-bay?I've obught one and downloaded some free stuff but still having problems making interface connections.If you have bought some what are the best any easiest to use? Thanks Mitch

Thanks i'll check it out tonight.I've got some frre soft ware downloaded but hav'nt got my pc back to get to try it out

I've downloaded the ross-tech and it won't work with the cable I have. It keeps telling me the interface connection not there I've looked on several other free down loads and they seem to do the same thing.Not sure if the cable is the problem or the software.I also bought this manual off craigslist covers all kind of vw audi but its so confussing on giving you sooooooooo many differant models that it really sucks.If anyone can help out on what might be the problem let me know.Thanks Mitch

Could be your computer software is incompatible. Does your laptop run windows? VAG COM is window based.
