My 92 Roadmaster is hard to start, runs badly
I have this 92 Roadmaster that about a year ago started running rough, miss firing and bogging down during acceleration. The service engine light came on and the code it gave was 44, oxygen sensor reading lean exhaust. Now after it runs for a while and we shut it off for more than 15 minutes it takes about 10 minutes of cranking the engine over in short bursts to get it to fire at all. Then to keep it running you need to rev the engine to 4000 rpm for a second or two to keep it running.
Help please. |

Sounds like the FP regulator has gone defunct!

Re: My 92 Roadmaster is hard to start, runs badly
Thanks for the quick reply, and I did run out and get a rebuild kit for the fpr. But alas to no avail. The problem still persists. I have replaced every sensor in the engine control system I can find. Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. very hectic life with only one reliable car and three drivers. I love this Buick. It came from, literally a little old lady who only drove it on Sundays. Only has 56000 mile on it. Like new inside and out. just this operational problem.
Thanks again |

Have you changed the rotor button, ICM, or distributor cap & coil?

Re: My 92 Roadmaster is hard to start, runs badly
I had that thought yesterday too. But I couldn't figure out how to get to the back screw on the distributor cap. Its tucked back in there pretty tight against the fire wall, and the top of the hood opening. I can't even reach around it to feel the screw. But I'm still trying. Thanks again for the advice.
