2000 factory roof rack questions... Do you have simple answer?

Hello,

I have a 2000 MS and I want to add the factory roof rack. I purchased one from Ebay and I don't think it is the right one. I always assumed it would attach in the roof pinchweld channel but this one is not wide enough and appears that I would have to thru bolt it to the roof. I don't want to drill my roof, I don't want roof rack that bad.

Can anyone tell me how the factory rack attaches to the truck?
Are there attach points in the roof channel?
Can anyone tell me how to remove the channel cover without damaging it?

If anyone has a picture of their factory roof rack and the attachment information I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your anticipated reply!

Kurt

Usually a factory roof rack will have holes that go through the roof unfortunately they usually sit near the rain channel on either side.

Re: 2000 factory roof rack questions... Do you have simple answer?

So you are saying that the 2000 Mitsubishi factory roof rack for the Montero Sport does not attach to something inside the channel.... I see what looks like mounting lugs for something, I assumed that they were for the roof rack.

I assumed<~~~ that may be my problem. I have seen many of these trucks around but have not had a chance to look at one for mounting details.

Could you post a picture of your mounting? I sure would appreciate it...

Thanks for your reply..... and picture too!
