95 Voyager w/ non working wipers, etc.
Well the front wipers stopped working again. When this happened in 4/08 the mechanic (in Florida) said it was a corroded relay. Also stated that the wiper motor would not just stop working. Well it is 10/09 and that is what just happened. Turned the wipers on, went a little bit then stopped. I can hear the electrical click, but the wipers do not move. The mechanic I usually take this van said that no ground is getting through, the motor is shot, and yes the motor can just die without any warning. Mechanic also said that the rear wiper motor is not compatible with the front so I gues there goes my scheme to save money.
Other issue; I found out that the gas smell around my van is a gas tank that after 15 New York years is starting to leak (right now it is just vapour no liquid). Are gas tanks usually given a rust proof coating or not? Can I drain my gas tank and lather it up with POR 15 to stop the rust or should I just get a new tank? Also, is POR 15 as good as the website says it is? |

Junkyards are full of wiper motors and gas tanks. If you get a used tank I would have it steam cleaned before installing. www.Rockauto.com has new tanks for $93 + shipping.

Re: 95 Voyager w/ non working wipers, etc.
Helpedthe mechanics chase down a grounding issue which we found was the factory ground was bad so we improvised and now I have working wipers which is sweet. Going to get a gas tank next week, but does anybody have tips on how to install it?
Side Note since I did not deem it worthy of a new topic. It is easy to spin the tires on this van (try not to do it often) and I was surprised at the pep the V6 has. Anybody else notice this? |
