91 cherokee brake accumulator?
first of let me say: Yes i searched the forums anything i found was from years ago so dont give me shit haha. So i just got the jeep back on the road and ive got a new problem. When i start the jeep after about 30 seconds the check brake light comes on (my abs light is always on due to branches ripping out sensor wires.... have been like this for years) When th ebrake light comes on the pedal goes right to the floor and has no brake. This lasts for about 5 minutes and sloooowly gets better and better untill the light turns off adn the brakes are normal.
I looked at shop key and it told me to check the low pressure switch for continuity i couldnt get any sign of continuity. Does anyone have any other tests to diagnose this or had issues like this before ? i priced out a new accumulator assembly and its around 450 so i want to be certain its the part before i buy it. As i was leaving the dealership the parts guy mentioned some of them have lifetime warannty so i may beable to get a free one..... Anyon have some ideas? |

Re: 91 cherokee brake accumulator?
It sounds like you have air or a leak in the hydraulic brake lines. Add fluid, bleed the brakes and check all the lines, calipers and wheel cylinders for leaks.

Re: 91 cherokee brake accumulator?
On the first question I would look at the back of the master cylinder. If they leak it usually works on the paint for the vacuum booster. Normally if the pedal goes to the floor it comes right back up after pumping it a couple of times. A rebuilt at the parts store should fix you up. I assume you checked for leaks and a bulge in the hose.
A brake that pulls to one side after bleeding and inspecting for leaks look for a hose to the front wheel having an internal restriction. |
