Leaking coolant, but on days it wasn't run
Bought a 96 Cherokee 4.0 High Output a couple of weeks ago. I've noticed on really warm days there is a small puddle of coolant below the passenger side of the radiator. Saw it today and I haven't run the jeep for three days and I know it wasn't there yesterday. Saw it once last week as well. Started it up and laid under it for 20 minutes and not a drop of coolant. I ran my hand all the way down the hose and can't feel any fluid.
Heat works fine, doesn't overheat. Doesn't appear to be any coolant in the oil. Kind of baffled here. |

Re: Leaking coolant, but on days it wasn't run
In a 14+ year old vehicle with no other problems, I'd suspect the radiator. How was the color of the coolant when you bought it? If brown, then you could have corrosion making its way through the radiator. There have been numerous posts here about bad radiators in Cherokees.

What would account for it leaking when not driven on warm days? |

Put a pressure pump on it and do not throw parts at it.It could be anything including the water pump. The water pump has a weep hole in it.
