Cost to replace 95 power steering rack?

I've been having steering problems on my 95 Formula, and a mechanic said my steering rack was shot. He didn't want to mess with it because he's too busy. I assume these are parts that you get rebuilt like alternators. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to have a shop replace it? How much did you pay? I've never had a car that needed that kind of work. It looks like it's fairly easy to get to...
