Im pleading for anybodies help on my 97 Bonneville.

I am in desperate need for some help with my 97 Bonneville SSE A/c. The system is fully charged with r134a. The compressor kicks on when it is suppose to. I replaced the high pressure switch last year.. The mixer/diverter appears to be cycling like its suppose to because when I change the electronic temp(auto) from 90 degrees to 60 degrees I can see the arm moving looking through the Cubby Hole, the vents change, and the fan adjusts to the demand but there is still warm air blowing. I have been pulling my hair out trying to repair this but I have just head butted a brick wall because I dont know where to go from here.. Any Help would be very much appriciated. Ill even paypal the person who diagnoses the problem that Helps me repair my issue. Thanks in advance and take care.

Let's start with the compressor, is it running continuously and is the accumulator cold if you place your hand on it? Have you checked the vacuum line from the top of the UIM to the reservoir & do you have vacuum to the programmer under the dash? If the actuator is moving, is it closing the door, or is it partially open? Is this a CJ2 system?

The accumulator isnt very cold but one of the lines going to it is chilled. The divertor travels about 5 inches towards the driver when I set from 90 to 60. Where would I go to check the vacuum from the IUM to the reservoir? Thank you for replying I appriciate the reply..

Based on the information provided, it sounds like the actuator is making a full swing and you have full air is blowing through the center (dash vents); so we can assume you have vacuum to the programmer and it is working as designed. How do you know the system is fully charged, did you do a pressure test on the low & high side? If so, what were the readings & ambient temp when tested?

When adding the coolant the pressure gauge reads well into the green on the low pressure side. Im not sure how to get the reading from the high pressure side? The compressor kicks in indicating that the coolant isnt low. Could something be possibly plugged up?? Thanks

I forgot the abient temp when the low side pressure was tested, it was at 85 degrees. This car is kiicking my butt.

when you change the controller from 90 to 60 and see the diverter move, is there any temperature change?If the unit is charged and compressor operating and no temp difference I suspect that the air mix door is broken away and not actually moving

Good point, be sure the linkage is connected to blend door; if not, close the door manually and see what you get.

The temp changes a little bit from 90 to 60. When at 90 the air is hot and when i change the temp to 60 its is warm but not hot like at 90. What would be the best way to manually adjust the divertor? Thank you guys for taking the time to help. Hope to hear from you soon.

If the clip on the actuator rod has broken or just fell off, you will have to use your hand to close the door. You have to be a contortionist while working under the dash.

The blend door should be connected to the actuator lever with a rod, as shown below. If it is loose; or broken, move the lever on the blend door by hand to the closed position.

Also note that in the C and H bodies its very common for the Actuator to strip a gear and stop short of being dead cold.. Not nice to have the actuator break and cook you out of the car on a rainy day..

In the vid you'll actually hear the gears grind and creek.. With the actuator hooked to the blend door it made no noise.. Just got stuck on roughly 80F... With the manual controls the Actuator has electronics in it that controls Blend door position.. With the Electronic Climate Control the ECC head controls the Blend door position via the actuator.. So the below vid is one possibility for you..

Just joined the forum and saw your a/c problems. We also have a 97 Bonniville with A/c problems. We replaced the hvac programmer and also another part under the dash. I had our mechanic do it. He took the entire dash out to get to it. Hope yours wasn't this involved.
