Re: trans swap help
They changed some things in 2003/2004. You would need a PCM from a 2003 and the engine wireing harness from a 2003 to use a 03 trans.

Re: trans swap help
2000 - 2010 Impalas ALL use the 4T65E yes. Just over the years they improved/changed some minor stuff.

Re: trans swap help
Hey Ripp....I was wondering if you ever did your swap and if everything turned out OK??
I actually am going to try to just the opposite and put an 01 Tranny into an 03. Trying to find out if there is a way i can make my swap work----maybe its as simple as having the wiring harness and computer to match the transmission?? Any tips or feedback would be appreciated |

Re: trans swap help
The PCM does not have to be changed and I put in a 2001 in a 2003 without changing the PCM.You have to make sure it is the right one and there are a couple things to look at the wiring plug, the big round plug looking for the color. For example a brown plug will not work with the vehicle coming with a green plug. The gear ratio has to be right or it will not work. The final drive can be swaped out to the replacement real easily.
